Women's studies center (WSC) organized the fourth international lecture entitled "The girls life in the age of children's rights"

Women's studies center (WSC) at IUG organized the fourth international lecture entitled "The girls life in the age of children's rights",  in cooperation with the University of Graz (UniGraz) in Austria Via Skype within the framework of the APPEAR funded project titled: Strengthening Higher Education Capacities in Palestine for Gender Equality – (SHE_GE). The lecture was presented by Dr Bernadette Knauder - University of Graz, Austria, and with students participation from UniGraz and IUG who are interested in the topic.


The lecture was attended by the SHE-GE team, WSC team and number of faculty members who interested in gender. 


The lecture focused on tracing the emergence and development of children's rights and the principles of the United Nations Protocol on the Rights of the Child. In addition, international initiatives that discriminate against systematic and serious violations against children during armed conflicts have been highlighted. Moreover, great emphasis has been put to develop a deeper understanding of the gender dimension and its impact. Furthermore, the experiences of children during armed conflict were reviewed to illustrate the violations committed against them by gender.

After the end of the presentation, the participants from both sides asked some questions and discussed several issues related to the context of the Palestinian
