The UN women delegation visits the Women's Studies Center

IUG represented by Dean of Faculty of Education, Prof. Mohammed AbuShaquir, Prof. Sanaa Aboudagga, manager of the project "Strengthening Higher Education Capacities in the field of Gender Equalities- SHE-GE ", Dr. Khitam ALSahar- Head of IUG Women's Studies Center, and Mrs. Amani Almqadma, Head of International Relations Department, receives delegation from UN Women - Gaza Strip constituted from Ms. Heba Zayyan, UN Women programme officer, and Mr. Abdelrahman Elassouli, UN Women Project manager. 

The UN women delegation visit was conducted on the sidelines of the Women's Studies Center inauguration last March, 2018. The aim of the visit was to identify common areas of interest for partnership and collaboration. UN Women delegation highlighted their available programmes and services in three fields: women education, empowerment and efforts to end violence against women. In addition to that, they expressed their interest to support scientific studies in the field of women and gender issues.   IUG team provided a short presentation about the SHE-GE project as well as strategic directions of the Women's Studies Center at IUG.


Heba Zayyan indicated that the she-GE project has implemented activities that are in line with the needs of the Palestinian society; she added that the project departs from the non-existence of women’s and gender studies in Gaza in higher education institutions. Such that the center will be a tool to bridge the gap at the Palestinian society for specialist in the field of women and gender studies. 

Prof. Aboudagha mentioned that the strategic plan for the women's Studies center at IUG is under development and will be shared with the UN women- Gaza strip before launching to identify areas of collaboration as list of actions and programmes.The two teams agreed to continue communication for strengthen relations and synergies for Palestinian empowered women.
