
The Hayat Center is a special training center specializing in emergency and crisis management. The center was established in cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic
University, and the Forum of Palestinian Doctors in Europe. The center
has the necessary crews and equipment to offer high-quality clinical
training, and has accomplished several training courses in emergency and crisis management.
Through this center, the Faculty of Medicine aims to develop the local community’s ability to deal with emergencies and crises that result from recurrent Israeli attacks. It also aims at enhancing services offered at health centers, through offering continuous training and education of staff at the hands of skilled experts.
Objectives:
- - To develop the local community’s ability to deal with emergencies and crises.
- - To enhance services offered by health centers in cases of emergencies and crises.
- - To improve the performance of health staff who deal with emergencies and crises.
- - To participate in setting and developing emergency plans.
- - To help develop a common language among staff involved in emergency and crisis management.
- - To develop national protocols to manage emergencies and crises.
- - To create a national database of trainers and trainees needed to deal with emergencies.
- - To help alleviate impacts of crises and emergencies on the community and affected individuals.
- - To establish an academic body capable of offering emergency and crisis management certifications in accordance with international standards.
- - To participate in scientific research pertaining to emergency and crisis situations.
Target groups:
- 1. Health staff working in the different governmental hospitals and health clinics.
- 2. Health and community service institutions.
- 3. Students at the different health faculties.
- 4. Police and fire department crews who are involved in dealing with emergencies.
- 5. Secondary school students and students of university colleges.
- 6. Other classes within the community who share an interest in emergency and crisis management.
Activities:
- 1. Training courses, both primary and advanced.
- 2. High diplomas, offered in accordance with international standards.
- 3. Organizing workshops to help set and develop emergency plans.
- 4. Participation in laying down national protocols to dealing with emergency and crisis situations.
- 5. Scientific research on subjects related to emergency and crisis situations and management, carried out individually or with participation with related bodies.
- 6. The establishment of a national database for well-trained staff capable of managing crises and emergencies.
